A SUSPECTED Bulawayo prostitute has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after viciously attacking a rival with a knife.
Nomagugu Dube, 22, of Cowdry Park was remanded in custody Tuesday when she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Crispen Mberewere last Friday.
The court heard that Dube stabbed Evidence Nyathi three times in the chest after a fight broke out between the pair over a man at Cleremont Mine compound in Fort Rixon.
Prosecutor Malvern Nzombe said the near-fatal attack occurred in the evening of June 8 when the pair met as Nyathi returned from a social soccer match in the area.
The women started arguing after Nyathi demanded to know why Dube had allegedly spread rumours that she was dating and sleeping with several men in the compound.
Dube then proceeded to home where she grabbed a knife and went back to look for Nyathi who she stabbed three times in the chest.
Locals then intervened as Nyathi collapsed to the ground and became unconscious as she lay in a pool of blood. She was later rushed to Mpilo Hospital with serious injuries.
